Activity Assistant

Help run the daily calendar that keeps our residents social, creative and engaged.

The following is a non-exhaustive criteria that relates to the job of a Activity Assistant, and it is consistent with the business needs of the facility. These are legitimate measures of the qualifications for a Activity Assistant, and are related to the functions that are essential to the job.

Knowledge base

  • High school graduate with certification where required by state regulations.
  • Excellent creative and communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements outlined below.
  • Genuine care for and interest in elderly and handicapped people.
  • Ability to comply with the Patient Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities.
  • Ability to comply with Company and departmental safety policies and procedures.

Essential duties

  • Maintain detailed records of activity programs and participation of individual residents, identifying progress.
  • Conduct resident activity histories and assessments as required by state and federal standards.
  • Assist in planning of activity groups and special events.
  • Assist in 1 on 1 or in-room activity.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for residents.
  • Ability to assist residents to and from activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work environment
75% indoors, 25% outdoors.
Work pace
Self-paced.

Reliability, trustworthiness and consistency with regard to attendance are extremely important to this job. The ability to regularly and timely attend work, to work cooperatively and politely with others, and to effectively multi-task in a demanding environment are also essential functions of this job. This position reports to the Activity Director.
